Willis G. Stroven, age 89, of Coopersville, was called home to his Lord, Thursday evening August 22, 2013. Willis was born in Coopersville to John G. and Effie (Nanninga) Stroven who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Lena Jane and Robert Laug. Willis graduated from Coopersville High School and was a lifelong area farmer, member of the Farm Bureau and faithful life member of Coopersville Reformed Church where he served as a deacon and elder for many years. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Betty; daughter, Cyndi and Gregory Butler; son, Tim and Christine Stroven; 8 grandchildren, Paul (Jodie) Butler, Ryan (Julie) Butler, Phil (Jackie) Butler, Bradley Butler, Melanie Stroven, Benjamin Stroven, Ross Stroven and Cassie Stroven; sister-in-law, Leora Kremer and brother-in-law, John (Judy) Roskamp. Funeral services will be held Monday 11:00 am at the Coopersville Reformed Church with Rev Robert VanManen of Little Farms Chapel and Rev Arnold VanBeek officiating. Burial will be in the Coopersville-Polkton Twp Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville and Monday one hour prior to the service at church.
