William Hodson

William E. “Bill” Hodson, age 90, was called home to Heaven Monday, February 21, 2022. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI to the late John and Magdalena (Schultz) Hodson. Bill grew up in the Coopersville/Lamont area, attended Coopersville High School, served in the U.S. Navy and enjoyed playing football in high school and in boot camp at Great Lakes. He loved spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening and growing raspberries. Bill worked as an industrial construction foreman for many years. He was a proud member of The West Michigan Plumbers, Fitters and Service Trades Local Union #174 in Coopersville and was also a member and leader in AMVETS of Michigan. He was very active at Spring Valley Church in Allendale where he assisted with grounds care and was always willing to lend a helping hand in any way he could. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling and wintering in the Ruskin, FL. area for many years. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Hodson on Dec. 18, 2014, as well as his son-in-law, Jon Beltman, sisters and brothers-in-law, Nina (Gerald) Walt and Ruth (Bud) Ham, brother and sister-in-law, John (Betty) Hodson and brother-in-law, Jack Palmatier. Bill is survived by his children, Doug (Joanie) Hodson, Diane Beltman and Linda Hodson (Gwen); 3 grandchildren, Tim Beltman, Megan Beltman and John (Rebekah) Hodson; great grandson, Noah Hodson; sister, Ena Palmatier and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, Feb, 25, 2022 at Spring Valley Church, 5947 Lake Michigan Dr., Allendale, MI with Rev. Rob Wondergem officiating. Burial will be in the Allendale Twp. Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family 5-7 PM Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022 at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville.
