Willem Henke

Willem Teunis “Bill” Henke, age 80, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022 surrounded by his family at Butterworth Spectrum Health, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Willem was born in Rhenen, Netherlands to the late Willem Cornelis and Metje (Bunt) Henke. Willem cared deeply for his family and others and also had an adventurous spirit. Willem along with his wife Lydia and his children made a decision to move to the United States in 1987 and settled in Coopersville as a dairy farmer. In addition to his parents Willem was also preceded in death by his granddaughter Olivia Henke. Willem is survived by his wife of 52 yrs. Lydia (Crum) Henke; 2 daughters, Metty (Bob) Boerkoel and Mieke (Jonathan) Engelsma; son, Bill (Jane) Henke; grandchildren, Allison (Nathan) Kelderman, Neal (Kim) Boerkoel, Leah (Peter) VanWoerden, Silvia Boerkoel, Phillip Boerkoel, Marie (Charles) VandenBerg, Jaco Engelsma and fiancee Amber Griess, Lydia (Steve) Timmer, Annemieke Engelsma, Luke Engelsma, Rachelann Engelsma, Ruthann Engelsma, Anna Henke, Willem Henke and Emily Henke; great grandchildren, Toby Kelderman, Liam Boerkoel, Leroy VandenBerg, Wesley VandenBerg and James Timmer; brother-in-law Piet (Mijni) Crum; sisters-in-law, Rini Crum, Ina Crum and Miep (Jan) Middelkoop; several nephews and a niece. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville, MI 49404 with Rev. Herman Hofman officiating. Burial will be in the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, June 27, 2022, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home in Coopersville.
