Mr Walter Clarence Bolthouse, aged 86, of Tallmadge Twp, passed away peacefully on the first evening of summer, June 21, 2011 at the Christian Rest Home after a valiant battle with lung disease. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI., on Sept 22, 1924 to Bernard and Nellie (VandenBerg) Bolthouse and was a life-long produce farmer, and former partner of Bolthouse Brothers Growers of Marne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Geraldine and Marie Bolthouse; brother, Jay Bolthouse; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Peterson and brother-in-laws, Lyle Hoffer and Ralph Esther. He enjoyed 53 years of marriage with his loving and devoted wife, Roberta, and will always be loved and adored by his children, Brenda (Jeff) Lindberg, Walter J. Bolthouse (Sandi Nucci), Shirley Hall, Nancy (Craig) Gravelin, Mary (Steve) DeVos, and Marvin (Dawn) Bolthouse; 13 grandchildren, William, Rebecca and Sara Lindberg, Lisa and Russell Hall, Anna, Kristen, and Nicholas Gravelin, Melissa and Natalie DeVos and Grace, Clairice, and James Walter Bolthouse; sisters, Ruth Hoffer, and Esther Esther both of Allendale; brothers, Roy (June) Bolthouse, Bernard (Susan) Bolthouse; sister-in-law Joyce Bolthouse all of Marne; brother-in-law, Glenn Peterson of Coopersville, and many nieces and nephews. Walter was foremost committed to his family. He exemplified the love of God, studied the Bible avidly, and greatly enjoyed music, especially when preformed by his family. Funeral Services will be held Saturday 10:30 am at the Coopersville Bible Church, 35 Hillcrest St, Coopersville, 49404. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery. Relatives and Friends may meet the family Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville. The family deeply appreciates the support and care from the staff at Christian Rest Home and Edison Manor. Memorials may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice or Christian Rest Home Foundation.
