Wallace Snow

Snow Mr Wallace (Wally) Mead Snow, aged 76, of Coopersville formerly of Muskegon and Falconer NY, died Friday December 25, 2009. He was born in Jamestown, NY on May 29, 1933, the son of Elizabeth May Mead and Marion Wallace Snow. He graduated from Falconer High School in 1953 and received his AD in Engineering from Jamestown Community College, Jamestown, NY. Wally served in the US Army from 1954-1956 spending one year in Germany as a Morse code operator. On May 12, 1972, he married Audrey Price Huntington, they resided near Falconer, NY until moving to Muskegon, MI in April of 1980. He worked for many years at MRC in Falconer, NY in Metallurgy and Engineering and at Kaydon Corp. in Muskegon, MI as an Engineer until retiring in 1992. In 1993 Wally and Audrey moved to Coopersville MI. Wally learned to fly small airplanes when he was in high school and continued to fly until moving to MI. Through the years he built or restored numerous cars and won many awards. He belonged to several national organizations and their local chapters; the AACA, BCA and the é�a�A"53-é�a�A"54 Buick Skylark Club. Locally he was a member of the Muskegon Country Antique Car Club, Coopersville Area Historical Society and the American Legion in Grand Haven. Following his retirement he restored an 1870 farm house near Coopersville and was in a team of retired men who restored a GM Futurliner. From the 1950's-1970's he was a drummer in a hobby Dixieland Band. He has always been an in charge kind of guy with a good sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Audrey; son Gregory of Forestville, NY; daughter Patty Snow of Leesburg, VA and daughter Sherilyn (Eric) VanDam of N. Muskegon MI; grandchildren Melissa (Dave) Brosco, grandsons Kyle, Eric and Nicholas VanDam; and great-granddaughter Ella Mae Brosco. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy Snow Anderson. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 1:00 PM at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville MI 49404. Pastor Richard Price officiating. Visitation will be Monday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville and also Tuesday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Falconer, NY. with a graveside memorial service to be held there on May 12, 2010. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to the Northeast Ottawa District Library, 333 Ottawa St, Coopersville MI 49404 or the Coopersville Area Historical Society, Coopersville MI.
