VELDMAN- Mrs. Virginia “Ginny” (Bronkema) Veldman, aged 82, of Coopersville passed away unexpectedly and went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 13, 2021. Ginny was born on October 9, 1938 to John and Martha (Herrema) Bronkema. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Jay who passed away on May 25, 2020. Ginny was also preceded in death by her sisters, Arlene Bronkema and Betty Stark; brother Ivan (Bud) Bronkema; brothers-in-law Arthur Cavanaugh, David Sweers, Gene Stark, Bob Rasmussen, Bert Schipper, and Cal Meindertsma; sisters-in-law Juanita Bronkema, Marilyn Meindertsma and Sharon Young. She is survived by her children Cheryl (Tom) Harsay, Scott (Shari) Veldman, Ron (Beth) Veldman, and Roger (Cheryl) Veldman. She holds special memories with 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Geraldine Cavanaugh, Norma Rasmussen, Doris Holman (Ken Conran), Joyce Sweers (Ed Hahn), Arlyn John “Butch” (Sandi) Bronkema and Barbara (John) Glass; She is also survived by sister-in-laws, Phyllis Bronkema, Leona Schipper, and brother-in-law, Don Young. Her memory lives on through many nieces and nephews, extended family, and many special friendships. Ginny graduated from Coopersville High School in 1956. She married her high school sweetheart and they were married for 62 years. Ginny was a wonderful cook and spent summers cooking at camp. She worked in the Coopersville Area Public Schools Food Service Department for over 20 years. Ginny enjoyed her church family, gardening, and quilting. She loved quilting with friends at church and made numerous quilts to give away to various organizations. Most importantly Ginny loved anything to do with people. She was known for being a constant encourager with many strong relationships. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The memorial service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the Coopersville Reformed Church, 423 W Randall St, Coopersville, MI 49404 with Rev. Arnold VanBeek Officiating. Burial will take place next to her husband Jay at the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Coopersville Area Community Foundation, 182 East Street Room 112, Coopersville MI 49404.
