Verne C. Beemer Jr. age 92, was called home to his Lord, Friday, August 20, 2021. He was born in Walker, MI to the late Verne and Winnifred (VanPortfliet) Beemer. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years Dorothy, brother-in-law Duane Reynolds, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lester and Rose VanderLaan, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Marianne and Rex Braginton and Margie “Cookie” Cook. Verne was a long time member of the Marne United Methodist Church, worked and retired from Blink Lumber in Marne, MI after 40 years, was a 21-year veteran volunteer of the City of Walker Fire Department. He was a lover of the outdoors, enjoyed fishing and spending time at his cottage in Ludington. He will be deeply missed by his children, Erwin (Marilyn) Beemer, Bonnie (William) Phebus, Paul Beemer and Becky Jauw and Janet (Jason) Koster; 14 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Vivian Reynolds; special kids, Carole Baker, Cathy Searing, Chris Kowalski and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Marne United Methodist Church, 14861 Washington St, Marne, MI 49435 with Rev. Cydney Idsinga and Pastor Ben Phebus officiating. Burial will take place in Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 22, 2021 at church. Memorial donations may be made to Marne United Methodist Church, 14861 Washington St, Marne, MI 49435 or Faith Hospice, 2100 Raybrook St. SE Ste. 300, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
