Thomas L. Lillie, 93, of Coopersville, MI, went to our Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 20, 2021; his loving wife of 69 years, Sallie Briggs Lillie, was by his side. Tom, a proud alumnus of Michigan State University never missed a sporting event. They held season passes to the football games and relished tailgating with his best friend and fraternity brother, Jack Kennedy and wife. In retirement, Tom and Sallie enjoyed traveling in their RV around the United States with their family and motorhome friends. In fact; Tom served as president and planned trips for the Northern Lights RV Association. They always went south after Christmas holidays and especially enjoyed spending summers camping with their daughters and grandchildren in Michigan. Tom owned Lillie’s Food Market in downtown Coopersville before selling and going to work as a food broker; he retired from the Paul Inman Co. as Vice-President at age 60. He then volunteered at the Westminster Presbyterian Church’s Food Pantry and also enjoyed fishing and boating in the summer. Tom loved to travel, read, and garden. He is survived by his loving wife, Sallie, his son, Thomas (Kay) Lillie, his daughters, Deborah (Gary) Kammer, and Marree (George) Taylor. He also adored his grandchildren, Caleb (Erica) Taylor, Dustyn (Carey) Taylor, Brandon (Emily) Taylor, Dakota (fiancee Mercedes) Taylor, Stephanie Kammer, and Joshua (fiancee Jessica) Kammer. Tom is also survived by his nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Marion Lillie, his brothers, Charles Lillie and Lee Lille, and his sister Mary Cuson. Thomas, who was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for almost 70 years will be laid to rest in the crematorium there after a private family memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Westminster Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, 47 Jefferson Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 or to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) of Kent County, 180 Ottawa Ave NW suite 5200, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 .
