Thomas Jonio

Thomas é�a�A"Jonesé�a�� Jonio, age 56, of Coopersville, passed away at home peacefully with family at his side Thursday, October 3, 2013 after a courageous battle with MDS which he was diagnosed with in 2011. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was always upbeat and positive. He found great pleasure in sharing his love and knowledge of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. Tom found his career of 38 years as an Arborist a natural fit with his love for the outdoors and in 2000 began Emerald Tree Care in Coopersville. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Kathleen (Lindberg) Jonio, sister Amy Jonio, sister-in-law Donna Jonio and father-in-law Don Hoekwater. Tom is survived by his wife, Carla; children, Joshua Jonio, Hillary (Luke) Hilbrand, Hannah Jonio and Zachary Jonio; grandchildren, Evelyn, Della, Ari and Samuel Jonio and their mother Heather Knoll and granddaughters, Kinley and Adalyn Hilbrand; brothers, Rodney Jonio, Dennis Jonio, Donal (Holli) Jonio, Tim (Cathy) Jonio and Patrick (Laura) Jonio; sisters Sue (Eddie) Jones, Nan (Michael) VanderVoord, Mary (Lew) McPherson and Lori Jonio; mother-in-law Elane Hoekwater; sister-in-law Chris (George) Brown; brother-in-law Tom Hoekwater and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with Toms wish cremtion has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11 am Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville with Pastor Jerry Price officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3 to 7 pm Sunday, Oct. 13th at the funeral home in Coopersville. Memorial donations may be made to Jones Benefit Inc. 220 Chary View Dr, Kent City, MI 49330 this nonprofit fund was set up in honor of Tom to assist families with financial support that are battling life threatening diseases.
