Stephen Devries

Stephen J. “Steve” DeVries, age 83, of Grand Rapids, went to Heaven Friday, March 31, 2023. He was born in Grand Rapids to the late Benjamin and Ruth (Good) DeVries. Steve served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a Hospital Nurse. He loved his family, enjoyed spending time with friends and was a born-again Christian who shared his faith in Jesus with everyone who would listen. Steve is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lorene (Hilton) DeVries; children, Christina (Mark) Bentley, Rebecca (Brett) Hutchins and Timothy (Jamie) DeVries; 11 grandchildren  (plus 3 grandchildren in Heaven); sister Betsy McCoy; sisters-in-law, Kay (Verlin) Brown, Carole (Tom) Baker and Pat (Dave) Barkley; brother-in-law, John Hilton and several additional family members and friends. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St., Coopersville, MI. with Pastor Tim DeVries, Pastor Dennis Tyson and Pastor Mark Bentley officiating. Burial will take place in the Marne Cemetery. Visitation 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville.
