Sharon Serba

November 3, 1950 — February 17, 2021

Sharon (Worm) Serba, age 70, of Coopersville, MI, passed away February 17, 2021, with her family by her side. She is survived, and will be lovingly remembered by Robert, her husband of 51 years; her son, Robert (Ann) Serba Jr., her son, Jonathan (Debra) Serba, and her grandchildren, Brendan, Sam, Andrea, Ryan and Libby Serba. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Chuck (Karol) Worm and sister, Shirley (Bill) Nerli. She is also survived by numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deanna Serba; parents Richard and Eloise (Summers) Worm; parents-in-law, Donald and Delores Serba; sisters Sarah (Joe) Corn and Elizabeth (David) VanDuinen; brothers Barney (Jackie) Marshall, Amos (Bonnie) Marshall, George Marshall, and David Marshall. Sharon lived a life devoted to her family and friends touching many people in such a positive way. She was warm, loving, naturally friendly, easy to talk with and made everyone feel comfortable. She had a servant heart and enjoyed giving to those in need. Her five grandchildren were the light of her life and she showered them with unconditional love while caring for them. She was their biggest cheerleader never missing their sporting events or school activities. Many children in the neighborhood and community knew her as “grandma” because of her welcoming heart. Sharon enjoyed camping, traveling, shopping and spending time with the love of her life, her husband Bob. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, February 20, 2021 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 224 Carrier St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505, with Fr. Rick Potts celebrant. Her family will receive visitors at church 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, February 19, 2021 and Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Please follow Covid social distancing and mask use practices, seating in church will be limited to 115 people. The service will be live-streamed on the church Facebook page at St. Alphonsus Parish GR. Interment will take place at Coopersville-Polkton Cemetery, Coopersville. Following the service, a luncheon for family and close friends will be held at Coopersville Reformed Church Activity Center, 423 W. Randall St., Coopersville. The family is grateful to the many people involved in her care, especially sister-in-law, Mary Serba. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 25200 Telegraph Rd., Suite 100 Southfield, MI 48033 or Spectrum Health Hospice, 100 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
