Sam Martin

Martin Mr Sam Earl Martin, aged 76, passed away on Wednesday Dec 9, 2009 at home where he lived with his daughter Nita and granddaughters Samantha and Stephany. Sam was born in Cheboygan on May 20, 1933 to Earl Martin and Theresa Mae (Ballard) Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Martin and Theresa Shampine; a friend and step-father Hank Shampine; brothers Donald é�a�A"Bunké�a�� Martin and Frank Joseph é�a�A"Joeé�a�� Martin; a sister Dixie Maybank and special brother-in-law Keith Maybank. Surviving are one sister Jill McMannus of Lakeland, FL; children Nita Sitzer of Coopersville, Larry Martin of Muskegon, step-children Mike (Judy) Belfiore, David (Becky) Belifore, Nick Belfiore, Gina (John) Burnett and their mother Doris Martin. Grandchildren Samantha Sitzer, Stephany Sitzer, Allison Martin, Amanda Martin and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also remembered, loved and never forgotten were his children Reneé�a�a�� Martin, Theresa (Martin) McGee, Noel Martin Binns and Jay Martin. Sam was a Korean War Veteran serving from 1952-1964 in the Navy. He loved the outdoors, playing the lotto, had a passion for reading and learning of all things but especially history. He was a huge jokester and loved to make people laugh; extremely proud of his grandchildren and loved his family with all his heart.
