Sadie Rena Kamps

Sadie Rena Kamps, age 93, of Coopersville, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI to the late John and Sadie (Boonstra) DeVries. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings John, Otto, Henry, Ann, Janet, Alice, Sue and their spouses; sister-in-law, Gertrude VanderKolk; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Abe (Marge) Kamps, Edward (Sylvia) Kamps, Gradus Kamps, Bill (Dorothy) Kamps and Gene Kamps.

Rena loved spending time with family and friends, taking her many bus trips, babysitting many children and canning.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 67 years, Clarence Kamps; children, Melvin (Colleen) Kamps, Wayne (Jolene) Kamps, Elaine (Steve) Zawacki; grandchildren, Samantha (Daniel) Williams, Justin Kamps and fiancé Megan Alwardt, Eric Kamps, Kaitlin Kamps, Andy Zawacki and fiancé Kelsee Stoner, Kelsey (David) Hammond; great grandson, Howard Hammond; sisters-in-law, Shirley Kamps and Flora (Art) Schout; brother-in-law, Edward VanderKolk and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Deb Fairchild and Corewell Health Hospice for the continued care of Rena.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 4, 2024 at Lamont Christian Reformed Church, 4745 Leonard St, Coopersville, MI 49404, with Rev. Terry Slachter officiating. Burial will take place in Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. 

Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St. Coopersville, MI 49404 and one hour prior to the service at church. Memorial donations may be made to Lamont Christian Reformed Church, 4745 Leonard St, Coopersville, MI 49404, or Lamont Christian School, 5260 Leonard St, Coopersville, MI 49404.
