Cusick, Ruth Elizabeth Cusick, aged 81, of Spring Lake (formerly of Coopersville) was called home to her Lord and Savior, on Friday, June 17th, 2011. In addition to her parents and five brothers, Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands Roger Cusick and Harvey Riemink. She is survived by her three children, Mary (Steve) Baird, Bill (Diane) Cusick, and Beth (Harlan) Smith, all of Coopersville; her grandchildren, Josh (Naomi) Cusick, Jeremy (Megan) Cusick, David (Laura) Baird, Dan and Ben Baird, Becky (fiance Eric Flagg) Baird, Tara Smith, Jennifer and Johnesha Cusick, Mikayla, William and Wade Smith; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Baird; sister, Mina (George) Cook of OR; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Ralph) Frahm of Frankenmuth, Hope Venema of Blissfield, Joylea Venema-DuPont of GA; several cousins, a host of nieces and nephews, and a multitude of cherished friends. Ruth's faith in God was an integral part of her life. She was a 57 year member of Ottawa Center Chapel, where she was an Awana leader to multiple generations of the same families. Ruth attended Ladies Bible Study groups, continued with her personal devotions even to her last weeks, and as recently as last month, attended The Bible Institute. She truly lived her faith, which led her to participate in several medical missions trips, first to Ecuador and then to Guatemala. She was a vibrant woman who loved travel and fellowship with her friends. Her family and friends continue to be amazed by her strong work ethic. Ruth worked her entire adult life, helping many children in to this world through her work as an OB nurse. After her retirement from Hackley, she transitioned to in-home health care, caring for a special little girl, Alyssa. Per her wish private burial has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held Monday, 11:00 am, at the Ottawa Center Chapel. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville.
