Ruth Arlene (Slaughter) Simot, age 88, of Coopersville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 10, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert ‘Dutch’ Simot, son Edward Pike, Robert ‘Bobby’ Leedy, daughter Mary Williams, son-in-law John Brecken, sister Della Bierman and brother Howard Slaughter. Ruth is survived by her loving children, Karen Gereaux, Alan (Karen) Pike, Pam (Joe) Giroux, Janet (Vince) Rasch, Earl (Mary) Simot and Joyce Brecken; son-in-law, Gene Williams; 27 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donnean Slaughter; special friend, Joe Fabian; many family members and friends. She attended Coopersville High School and was a graduate of the class of 1950. She worked at Woolworth’s in downtown Grand Rapids and The Meat Locker in Coopersville. Ruth loved spending time with family and friends, traveling and fishing with her late husband ‘Dutch ‘and enjoyed playing cards and games. Also important to her as well was her Senior group of friends sharing coffee, time and stories Wednesday and Sunday evenings, breakfast Saturday mornings with her friend Lou Kaan, Sundays with her Church Family and special visits with family friends Kris VanHuis and Kris Durst. Ruth leaned on her faith, family and friends for support. We were blessed to have her in our lives. Memorial service and celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date.
