Ronald Barkel

Ronald E. Barkel, age 88, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022. He was born in Coopersville, Michigan to the late Ernest and Sophie (Glace) Barkel. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy and brother Darryl. Ron served in the United States Army 11th Airborne division. He started and ran the Dr. Jazz show for 28 years at WGVU. Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing the banjo, going camping and snowmobiling. He will be deeply missed by his son, Kirk Barkel; grandchildren, Jacob and Jackson Barkel; brother, Dick (Marie) Barkel; sisters-in-law, Denise Barkel, Audrey Langley and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wish cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St. Coopersville, MI 49404, with Rev.
