Roger J. Baldus, age 80, of Coopersville, MI. passed away on October 3, 2013 in Grand Haven, MI. He was born to Nelson and Ruth Nixon-Baldus in Nunica, MI on October 29, 1932. Roger attended school in Nunica and graduated in 1951 from Coopersville High School where he played Saxophone in the band and participated in Jr. Rotary. He attended Grand Rapids Community College and Western Michigan University. Roger met the love of his life Norma Vanderveen-Baldus in high school and they were married in 1953. Roger was a member of the Masonic Lodge, loved to spend time with his family, fish and hunt, music and dancing. He was a very special person and enjoyed life. He worked in the food services field most of his years and part time in funeral homes for 18 years. Roger loved his family more than anything in the world. Everyone who knew Roger loved him. Roger always offered to help others. He enjoyed frequenting local businesses just to stop in and say "hi." Roger was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and would often state to his children, "always do the right thing" in any situation. He was predeceased by his parents and only brother, Richard. Roger is survived by his wife of 59 years, Norma Baldus. He is survived by three sons (Bill, Phil and Mathew Baldus) a special daughter (Natalie Cavagnetto) and seven grandchildren (Steve, Laura, David, Andra, Lily and Jacob Baldus and Dawson Cavagnetto). The family would like to thank Trudy and the staff at the Sierra Assisted Living Home in Grand Haven, MI for their wonderful care of our very special, much loved and missed Roger.
