Richard Worpel

Richard F. Worpel, age 67, of Conklin, was called home to his Lord Saturday, March 15, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rich was born in Grand Rapids MI to Donald and Kathlene (Tow) Worpel who preceded him in death and was also preceded in death by his granddaughter Daryn Reneeé�a�a�� Worpel. He retired from Nicholas Plastics in Allendale after 42years of service. He was a people person and loved to meet and develop relationships with everyone he came in contact with. Rich enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and supporting them by attending there many programs and events that they participated in. He also participated in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do where he held the rank of red belt and was pursuing his black belt. He loved to spend time with his family at their cabin, sharing his love of nature, fishing, hunting and showing the grandchildren he could keep up with them by waterskiing at the lake this past summer in 2013. Rich will be deeply missed by his wife of 45 years Sandy; children, Wendy (Jeremy) Camp, Joseph (Kimberlee) Worpel, Holly (David) VanKempen, Mindy (Jim) Polak and Christopher Worpel; 11 grandchildren, Taiylor, Sydney, Rylie, Colin, Jolee, Alec, Chase, Ashton, Kaila, Caden and Phoenix; two sisters Sharon (Phil) Fahling and Dr. Charlotte (Worpel) Norris and Curtis Norris; two brother-in-laws Jim (Jeanne) Stephens, Charles (Sally) Stephens; two sister-in-laws, Pat (Russ) Reams, Marilyn (Tom) Pearce and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday at St Maryé�a�a��s Catholic Church in Marne with Fr Dave Gross and Msgr Terry Stewart Celebrants. Burial will be in the Marne Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville with a Scripture service Tuesday evening at 8 pm and on Wednesday at St Maryé�a�a��s Church in Marne one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Daryn Renee'Worpel Scholarship Fund C/O Coopersville Area Community Foundation or Compassion International.
