Richard Barkel

Richard L. “Dick” Barkel, age 86, of Coopersville passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022. Dick was born in Wright Twp. MI to the late Ernest and Sophia (Glace) Barkel. Dick was a graduate of Coopersville High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St Michael’s Catholic Church in Coopersville, a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9909 and a Gold Card Member of the Casino Club of Grand Rapids. Dick is survived by his wife of 65 yrs., Marie (Davidson) Barkel; daughter and son-in-law, Deb and Mike Wiggins; grandson, Brian Wiggins; several nieces and nephews; special cousin, Joel and Dawn Barkel and many additional cousins and special friends the Eddy Family. In keeping with Dick’s request cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday November 15, 2022 at St Michael’s Catholic Church, 17150 88th Ave, Coopersville with Fr. Michael Hodges Celebrant. Private family interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Wright Twp. Relatives and Friends may greet the family 10 - 11 A.M.  Tuesday one hour prior to the service at church. Memorial donations may be made to Lori’s Voice, P.O. Box 66, Coopersville, MI 49404.
