Phillip Yordy

Phillip Gene Yordy, age 89, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022. Gene was born in Allen County, Indiana to the late Charles and Katherine (McKenzie) Yordy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Randall Yordy, brothers Robert Yordy and Paul Yordy, brothers-in-law Robert “Buster” Lipe and David Lipe. Gene served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Sherman Moore Post 297 in Ravenna. He retired from Piedmont Trucking in Grand Rapids where he worked as a mechanic and worked as a greeter for 9 years at Walmart in Muskegon on Sherman Blvd. Gene enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, hunting, feeding and watching the birds at the many birdfeeders in his yard and watching stock car racing. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years Sharon Yordy; children, Shelia Yordy, Debbie (Blake) Peckham, Kimberly (Charles) Borgman and Michael Yordy; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Gutoski; brothers, Don (Joyce) Yordy, Douglas Yordy and Dudley Yordy; brother-in-law, Rodney Lipe and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wish cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life open house will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 2-6 P.M. at the Ravenna American Legion Post, 3590 Conklin St, Ravenna, MI 49451 with Military Honors at 3:00 P.M.
