Paul Francis Van Dyke

Paul Francis Van Dyke, age 93, of Conklin, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Sunday, October 8, 2023. He was born in Conklin, MI to the late Martin and Helen (Miller) Van Dyke. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Chad Van Dyke; granddaughter, Jessica Schneider; sisters, Rita Van Dyke and Rose Van Dyke; brothers-in-law, Leo (Dorothy) Alvesteffer, Bob (Valerie) Alvesteffer, Ron Alvesteffer, Gilbert (Clara) Alvesteffer; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Alvesteffer, Agnes (Wes) Hewitt and Roseanne (Stan) Gross. Paul served in the United States Army during the Korean war, was a member of the VFW and American Legion, worked for American Seating for 37 years until his retirement in 1984, owned and operated Van Dyke & Myers sanitation business. He enjoyed woodworking, and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus 4404. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 70 years Maxine (Alvesteffer) Van Dyke; children, Fred (Nancy) Van Dyke, Norm (Karen) Van Dyke, Ron (Brenda) Van Dyke, Lynette (Marty) Lozon, Cheryl (Mark) Lozon; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sister, Jean Maki; sisters-in-law, Gerry Malburg, Louise (Harold) Schaner, Lornella Faucher, Charlene Birkman, Judy (Harold) Haight; brother-in-law Ralph Alvesteffer and many nieces and nephews. The family also wishes to thank special neighbor and friend Mark Schneider for his help and kindness. In keeping with his wish cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 13, 2023 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 2044 Gooding St, Conklin, MI 49403, with Fr. Andrew Ayers Celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St. Coopersville, MI. Rosary will be prayed 2:30 P.M. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the Throop Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Conklin American Legion Post 537, 21488 Squires Rd.
