Paul Towne

Paul A. Towne, age 93, of Lamont, departed his earthly life suddenly on Sunday evening March 2, 2014 at his home in Lamont Michigan. Paul was born in White Cloud Michigan on November 20 1920. He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II in Japan. Upon his return from the service Paul married Eleanor Frances Paulsen also of White Cloud. Paul worked for Sealed Power in Muskegon where they lived for nine years. Paul and Ellie moved to Coopersville in 1956. Here they raised their family of 5 girls and 1 boy on their eighty acre farm where Paul grew produce and raised beef cattle. After Paul worked 37 years he retired from Sealed Power and Ellie and he traveled extensively throughout the United States. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Paul was preceded in death by his daughter Darleen Riplo on May 23, 1975 at age 25 and his wife Eleanor on November 26, 2009 at age 81. He is survived by his children, Juanita Childs and her husband Dan from Coopersville, Son-in-law Fred Riplo and his wife Connie from Conklin, Vicki Golden and her husband Tracy from Muskegon, Susan Travis and her husband Scott from Grand Rapids, Thomas Towne and his wife Kimberly from Port Charlotte Florida, Annette Bilocca and her husband Christopher from Grand Rapids; 20 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1379 Harding St, Conklin, with Rev. Mark Oswald officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville and Wednesday one hour prior to the funeral service at church.
