KONING é�a�" Mr. Orrin E. Koning, aged 93, of Coopersville, was called home by his Lord and Saviour Monday, September 12, 2011. He was born May 13, 1918 in Coopersville to Nickolas and Reka Koning. He worked on the family farm until serving in the Army during WWII, he received five Bronze stars and a Purple Heart. He later owned his own construction business and retired from Vander Wall Bros. Orrin enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and he and Stella were faithful members of Nortonville Gospel Chapel. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John, Wendell and Forrest Koning and sister, Ann Fritz. Orrin is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Stella (Ruster) Koning; five daughters, Sheryl Koning, Gayle (Franklin) Carskadon, MaryLee (Raymond) Doty, Diane (Joseph) Paauwe and Suellyn (Brian) Metten; eight grandchildren, Raymond (Kim) Doty, Todd (Cara) Doty, Lyndsey (Jason) Redman, Kasey (Eric) Hall, Michelle (Jeff) Straley, David (Anne) Metten, Andrew Metten and Melissa Carskadon; 18 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; his sister, Jean Koning and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Nortonville Gospel Chapel, 14528 Leonard Rd., Spring Lake with Rev. Dennis Snyder and Rev. Russell Osbeck officiating. Burial Coopersville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may meet the family Thursday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St., Coopersville.
