Nellie Walt

Nellie Jeanette Walt, August 5, 1925 - May 25, 2019 age 93 formerly of Coopersville, MI.  She was a daughter of Henry & Gertrude (VanderVeen) Veeneman.  Nellie and Warren Walt were married October 31, 1945; he preceded her in death on September 10, 2001.

Together they have four children:  Donald J (Cathy), Joanne Sarut, Sandra (James) Wibby, Robert J (Leslie). She loved her children equally and in ways that honored their individuality and cherished her grandchildren:  Caren, Robert W, Gillian, Paula, Katie, Brian.  She loved her great-grandchildren too:  Kimberly, Stella, Mateo, Jonah, Juniper, Kahlil, Isabella, and Veda.

She is survived by her brother, Frank Veeneman, and Warren’s siblings: Gerald Walt, Mary Ann (Norman) Smoes, Marvin (Ruthann) Walt and all 23 of her nieces and nephews survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Gertrude, husband Warren, and siblings, Harold Veeneman, George Veeneman, Minnie Doornbos and Celia Pelton.

Nellie was incredibly generous, sharing her good fortune with others, and loved to travel.  Her care for relationships with dear friends and family manifested in having kept every greeting card, announcement, and thank-you note she ever received.

We are left with memories of adventurous moves, joyful celebrations, and lots of love. A Family gathering will be held Saturday June 1, 2019 from 2 to 4 PM at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville.  We invite you to share your thoughts and memories at throopfh.com
