Nancy L. Smoes, age 79, of Coopersville, was called home to her Lord Friday, April 11, 2014. She was born in Stoneham, MA to Ernest and Edith M. (Hagberg) Bruce who preceded her in death. Nancy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nancy was a longtime member of Coopersville Reformed Church; she enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking and made blankets for each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to spend time in the outdoors going for walks, camping and gathering with family and friends around a campfire. She and her husband Paul would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this month on April 30th. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Paul; 4 children, Gary (Jean) Smoes, Kevin (Sue) Smoes, Kirk (LeAnn) Smoes, Vicki (Scott) Wenger; 9 grandchildren, Justin Smoes and fianc� Mary Kate, Jon Smoes, Sara Smoes and fianc� Nick, Jaime Smoes, Katie (Anthony) Sheftic, Laura (Chris) Caulk, Kirk Smoes Jr. and fianc� Shay, Josh (Lindsey) Wenger and Nick Wenger; great grandchildren, Alaina and Camden; sister Judith Hynes; 2 brothers, Richard (Barb) Bruce, Kenneth (Barb) Bruce and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 11:00 A.M. at Coopersville Reformed Church with Rev. Arnold VanBeek officiating. Burial will be in Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven, MI. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville.
