Michael Marlin “Chief” Sheridan, aged 72 from Coopersville, passed away unexpectedly but surrounded by family on December 2, 2021. Michael was a 1967 graduate of Ravenna High School and served in the United States Army from 1969-1971, completing a tour of duty with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. Michael earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Aquinas College and worked for Sealed Power (later Mahle Corporation) until his retirement in 2008. Mike enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with family and friends. He was a longtime member of the Marne American Legion, serving as the Finance Officer for many years, and was responsible for organizing numerous activities at the Post. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Marlin and Eva Sheridan of Ravenna, his brother-in-law Eugene Oracz, sister-in-law Marilynn (Owen) Oracz, and brother-in-law Paul Lindberg. Michael is survived by his wife Jean (Hug) of Marne, his sons Nikalus and Joshua (Bre), and by his granddaughter Brianna. The family is holding a funeral service at Saint Mary’s Church in Marne (where he and Jean began their life together 46 years before) at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 9, 2021 with visitation one hour prior, and asks that any memorials in Mike’s honor be made to the Marne American Legion Post 376.
