Michael Burdick

Michael James Burdick, age 69, passed away at home Monday, July 27, 2020 with family at his side. Mike was born in Grand Rapids to the late Frederick and Frances (Triick) Burdick. He was a graduate of Kenowa Hills class of 1968, served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam War and retired from the Kent ISD as a custodian in 2006. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, attending the drag races at Martin 131 drag way and was a diehard Ford car guy. Mike is survived by his wife of 47 yrs., Nancy (Thornell) Burdick; son, Michael D. (Caren) Burdick; 4 grandchildren, Teresa and Matthew, Terry and Ashley, Tiffany, Laura and Cliff; 7 great-grandchildren, Madison, Robert, Andrew, Ethan, Marianna, Ingrid and Robbie; sister Colleen (Mike) Patterson; brother, Tom (Patti) Burdick; in-laws, Gloria (Bill) Reidt, George (Janice) Thornell, Debora Kroes; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mike was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Verna Thornell, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ted Elzinga and brother-in-law, Bob Kroes Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, Aug. 3, 2020 at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 15164 Juniper St, Marne, MI 49435 with Fr Ayub Nasar Celebrant. Burial will take place in St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Marne. Visitation will be held 3 – 6 P.M. Sunday Aug. 2, 2020 at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville and Monday one hour prior to the service 10 – 11 AM at Church.
