Maureen Ione (Norris) Leach
October 10, 1922 — March 31, 2024
Maureen Ione Leach, age 101, passed away Sunday evening March 31, 2024. Maureen was born October 10, 1922 in Lansing, MI. to the late Bayard and Esther (Alderman) Struble. She was raised by her foster parents the late Edward and Mae (Farley) Norris in Grand Haven, MI and was a graduate of Grand Haven High School Class of 1940. She married Fred “Fritz” Leach on November 14, 1942 and they settled in Coopersville, MI.
Maureen was a member of the Coopersville United Methodist Church, a life member of the Coopersville VFW Women’s Auxiliary, member of the Coopersville Historical Society, served as the Coopersville Village Treasurer and worked at Taskers Drug Store for several years. She also volunteered with Reach to Recovery for the American Cancer Society and was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan.
Maureen was preceded in death by her husband Fred “Fritz” Leach, son Jack Leach, granddaughter Carmen Peterson, siblings and in-laws Phyllis (Howard) Behm, Budd (Betty) Norris, Rex (Patty) Carrow and Robert (Hannah Rae) Struble.
Maureen is survived by her daughter-in-law, Gwen Leach; grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Leach and Billy Peterson; 3 great grandchildren, Paige Leach, Parker Leach and Tate Peterson; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 1:30 P.M. Friday April 5, 2024 at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville, MI 49404 with Rev. Cori Conran officiating. Burial will take place next to her husband in the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Relatives and Friends may greet the family from 12:30 to 1:30 Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
