Mrs Margaret Sonia Ellis, aged 86, of Coopersville formerly of Seattle Washington passed away Wednesday January 4, 2012. She was born May 14 1925 to the late George and Margaret (Peace) Lawrence, in Glasgow, Scotland. Sonia served in the British Armed Services as a WAC during WW II, after the war she and here husband lived in Liverpool England, they immigrated to Canada in 1954 where she worked as a Medical Secretary and then to the United States in 1966 where she worked as an administrative assistant for the University of Washington in Seattle until here retirement. After retirement and because of health concerns she moved to MI to be closer to her daughter Jocelyn. Sonia enjoyed people and loved to entertain, she enjoyed painting and did many landscape oil paintings; she also enjoyed knitting and dancing and at age 60 she took up flying and obtained her pilots license. Sonia is survived by her son, Christopher (Christine) Canny of Canada; two daughters Jocelyn Bilski of Coopersville and Caroline (Jeff) Farrington of Florida; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 7:00 pm Thursday Jan 5, 2012 at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, in Coopersville. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
