Kathryn Joan Veldheer (Spoelhof), age 85, of Grandville, MI., passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 with her daughter and son at her side. Kathryn was retired from Calvin Christian Schools where she worked as a secretary and was a 30 year kidney transplant survivor. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband Jay Veldheer in 2006; her mother, Kate Spoelhof (Woudstra); father, John Spoelhof; step-mother, Gertrude Spoelhof (Van den Berg); brothers, Paul Spoelhof and John Spoelhof; sisters, Agnes Holst and Francis Fryling; brother-in-law Jack Veldheer. Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Carol (Larry) Ditkof; son, Brent (Elizabeth) Veldheer; grandchildren, Mitchell (Britany) Ditkof, Ben Ditkof, Ashlee (Ian) Sorensen and Kodi Veldheer (Damian Shae); great grandson Xzaviar Shae; brothers-in-law, Joel (Wendy) Veldheer, Jim (Sandy) Veldheer and Buzz (Dawn) Veldheer; sisters-in-law, Jane (Larry) Mierly, Jerralynne Tjeerdsma and Joyce (Allen) Polly; many nieces and nephews. In keeping with her wish cremation has taken place. A Life Celebration Service will be held Monday 1:00 pm at Fuller Ave Christian Reformed Church, 1239 Fuller Ave, Grand Rapids. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MI. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville, and Monday one hour prior to the service at church.
