Judith Ann (Wassenaar) Bouwman

Judith Ann (Wassenaar) Bouwman, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Fountain View Assisted Living, Coopersville, MI. Judy was born on January 12, 1938, in Coopersville, MI to the late William and Beatrice (Cook) Wassenaar. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her two sisters, Jean Lucille (Wassenaar) (Leo) Hovatter and Dorothy Lou (Wassenaar) (Robert) Marcus. Judy lived in Coopersville her entire life. She graduated in 1956, from Coopersville Senior High, where she met her future husband, Gordon. They married on August 17, 1957, in Coopersville Reformed Church, where they became lifelong members. High School is also where she met her lifelong best friend, Lona Swanson. Judy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, camping, traveling, cooking and baking for the family, researching family genealogy, playing Rummikub with Gordon, and antique hunting. Judy is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gordon Bouwman; children, Joseph Bouwman of Coopersville, Kathryn (David) VanKlompenberg of Marne, and Karla (Todd) VanHouten of Coopersville; grandchildren, Daniel (Christina) VanHouten, Kelli (Daniel) Pettit, Eric and Jenna VanKlompenberg.; great grandchildren, Nora, Silas, and Charleigh Pettit, Lucas and Emma VanHouten. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, special friends; Lona Swanson, Lois Adema, other High School friends, friends from Coopersville State Bank, Hi_Ram Elemex, and special table friends at Fountain View Assisted Living. Also, survived by her are in-laws, Robert and Beverly Dykhouse, and Robert and Cheryl Bouwman. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Coopersville Reformed Church, 423 W. Randall St. Coopersville, MI 49404, with Rev. John Hines officiating. Burial will take place in Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, September 9, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St. Coopersville, MI 49404. A luncheon will be provided following the service at Coopersville Reformed Church Activity Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Fountain View Assisted Living, 640 W.
