Lillie - Mrs Joy Lillie, aged 91, of Coopersville was called home to heaven, Friday, Nov. 18, 2011. Joy was born July 2, 1920 in Nunica, MI to William and Gertrude (Zimmer) Mergener, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband Russell and son David. Joy served in WWII in the Army Nurse Corp, where she was one of the first nurses landing on Normandy Beach. She received the Bronze Star for her actions. Upon her return she continued her nursing career until her retirement from North Ottawa Community Hospital. She was an active member of St Michaelé�a�a��s Church and Coopersville VFW Post 5598. She is survived by her children Joy (Mel) Bos, Russ (Sheryl) Lillie, Mark (Sue) Lillie, Dennis (Kate) Lillie, Lynne (Steve) Bennink, Barb (Gordie) Umlor, Mary (David) Cicerone, Carol (Richard) Dausman, Margaret (Chuck) Kirkham; 31 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 11:00 am at St Michaelé�a�a��s Catholic Church, 17151 88th Ave, Coopersville, Fr. Mel Fox, Celebrant. Burial in St Maryé�a�a��s Cemetery in Marne. Relatives and Friends may meet the family Sunday 4 to 6pm, Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm with the Rosary at 7pm at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville.
