Joseph Giguere

Joseph A. Giguere, age 74, of Grand Rapids, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016. He was born in Ishpeming, MI. to the late Theodore and Emmaline (Vadnais) Giguere. He graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1959, worked as a miner for many years and served on the Ishpeming Volunteer Fire Dept. Joe loved every moment he spent with his kids and grandchildren never missing a sporting event or any other special occasions in their lives. He was a die hard Democrat and union supporter, enjoyed playing cribbage, shooting pool, bowling, hunting, fishing and card games at é�a�A"The Old Camp Bryané�a��. Joe was preceded in death by his son Steven Giguere, brother Ted Giguere, sister Darleen Carroll, father-in-law and mother-in-law Albert and Hettie Corkin, brother-in-law David Corkin and sister-in-law June Corkin. Joe is survived by his wife of 55 yrs., Carolyn; daughter, Cathryn (Richard) Kober; grandchildren, Nathan Kober, Andrea Kober and Monica Kober; special family friend, Paul Wright; brother, Clarence Giguere; sisters, Margaret (Jack) Parent and MaryLou (Glenn) Jackson; brothers-in-law, Tom Corkin and Douglas Carroll; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Corkin, Nancy Giguere and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place a Life Celebration Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Marne United Methodist Church, with Rev Tommy Boutell officiating. Interment in Ishpeming Cemetery. Visitation Monday 6 to 8 pm at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville and Tuesday at Church from 10 to 11 am. Services will be held in Ishpeming, MI. at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home, 400 N. Third St., Ishpeming, Michigan 49849, day and time to be announced.
