John Arthur VanDenBrink, age 68, passed into eternal life Monday, December 28, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Grand Haven, MI to the late Aart and Coral (Alles) VanDenBrink. John is also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Angela Steffes and brother-in-law, Anthony “Butch” Steffes. John was a lifelong dairy farmer, a former member of the Coopersville School Board, and served on the St. Michael's School Board and Pastoral Council, the Ravenna Twp. Planning Commission and the Farm Service Agency board. In 1995, he was recognized as the State Conservation Farmer of the Year. John loved spending time with his grandchildren as well as traveling near and far. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 43 years, Mary (Steffes) VanDenBrink; children, Nicholas (Daniel) Cook-VanDenBrink, Joan (Curt) Kutchin, Phillip VanDenBrink, Jeremy (Abbie) VanDenBrink, Daniel VanDenBrink, Amy (Sean) Weaver, Rosemary VanDenBrink and fiancé Laurens Wolswijk, and Grace VanDenBrink; grandchildren, Kayleigh, Karlee, Katherine, Craig, and CJ Kutchin, Harper, Jade, and Drake VanDenBrink, and Sonja and Thomas VanDenBrink; sister, Sally (Daryle) Maycroft; father-in-law, Merlin Steffes; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barbara (David) Armock, Michael (Rhonda) Steffes, Eloise (Steven) Carew, Lois (Joseph) Lothschutz, Stephen (Theresa) Steffes, Christopher (Shannon) Steffes, Gregory (Andrea) Steffes, Margaret (Douglas) Murphy, Mark (Sally) Steffes, Merlin Steffes, Matthew (Barbara) Steffes, Connie (Tim) Heimendinger and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 17150 88th Ave. Coopersville, MI 49404 with Fr. Ayub Francis Nasar officiating, with burial in the St. Michael's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family 4:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, January 1, 2021 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Rosary will be prayed at 7:30pm. Visitation is also one prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Help Pregnancy Resource Center, 705 Bridge St. NW.
