Perrin, John J. Perrin Jr., A lifelong resident of the Coopersville area passed away Jan 7, 2011 at the age of 85. John was a Veteran of World War II, serving as a Private First Class in the 812th Tank Battalion at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, then later a retiree of Kelvinator in Grand Rapids, MI in 1984 after 39 years. He was the son of John R. and Bertha (Cryderman) Perrin, who both passed away in 1954. He is survived by one daughter, Susan M. Slattery of Allendale, MI; two fine grandsons, Nicholas S. (Amanda) and Christopher L. Heimler of Coopersville, MI; one surviving sister, Margaret Benaway and friend Earl of Muskegon, MI; one nephew, David (Jan) Baldus of Newaygo, MI; four nieces, Sylvia (David) Betz of Kalamazoo, MI, Dorothy Eadie of Ravenna, MI, Virginia Kalarik and Phyllis Humphrey of Muskegon, MI. John was preceded in death by three half sisters, Virginia Johnson, Hazel Smith, and Esther Moodt; one half brother, Lester é�a�A"Bubé�a�� McNitt and nephew Jack Moodt. Johné�a�a��s main interest in later years was helping the less fortunate around the world, so he got into sponsoring children, 30 children in all over the years, from poor countries. He also donated to many different charitable organizations. John could never figure out why there had to be so much suffering and starvation in the world with all the wealth available. Funeral Services will be held Sunday January 9, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville, with Rev. John Morse officiating. Burial will be in Ravenna Twp. Cemetery. Friends may greet the family Sunday from 3 to 5 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, John preferred memorial contributions be made to the Coopersville Area District Library, Humane Society or charity of your choice.
