John R. Ossewaarde

John R. Ossewaarde, age 91, of Grand Rapids formerly of Allendale, was called home to his Lord Wednesday morning March 27, 2024. John was born in Allendale, MI., to the late William and Anna (Kramer) Ossewaarde. In addition to his parents John was also preceded in death by his son Jack Ossewaarde and brother Lester Ossewaarde.

John is survived by his wife Joyce (VanDam) Ossewaarde; son, Jim Ossewaarde; daughters, Jan and Rev. Russ Ooms, Joan and Jamie Bolen; daughter-in-law, Sharon Ossewaarde; grandchildren, Brian (Jill) Bolen, Brenda (Ben) Miles, Rebecca (Jake) Bolen-Anderson, Jennifer Ossewaarde, Rachel (Jonathan) Tankersley, Joshua (Rebekah) Ooms, John Ossewaarde, Caleb (Kassandra) Ooms; 12 great grandchildren; sister Lucy Sessions; sister-in-law Barbie Ossewaarde; many nieces and nephews.

John enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and was a longtime active member of Westview Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids. He enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida and spending summers at his cottage on Upper Silver Lake.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024 1:00 P.M. at Westview Christian Reformed Church, 2929 Leonard St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504 with his son-in-law Rev Russ Ooms officiating. Burial will be in Allendale Twp. Cemetery.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 12 noon to 1 P.M. one hour prior to the service at Westview Christian Reformed Church.
