John Hornacek

John Hornacek, age 66, of Coopersville, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014. John was born in Muskegon MI to John and Gladys (Shoup) Hornacek who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister Patricia Connolly and father-in-law John Knauf. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Susan; five children, Patrick (Rori) Hornacek, Darleen (Jason) Barkel, Anne (Neal) Martinelli, Joseph (Jennifer) Hornacek and Kathleen (Michael) Ross; ten grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachael, Ashley, Nicholas, Syrah, Lex, Bailey, Ava, Spencer and John; sister, Susan (Russ) Jackson; three brothers, Mike Hornacek, Tim Hornacek and Frank (Dee) Hornacek; mother-in-law, Betty Knauf; brother-in-law, Mike (Sue) Knauf and many nieces and nephews. John was employed at the Foundry in Ravenna for over 20 yrs. and also worked at Grand Valley State University as a custodian for several years. Over the years at the college John became known as someone that truly cared and would listen and offer advice if asked. Because of his concern for others some of the students and staff bestowed an Honorary Counselor degree to John for the care and support that he showed them. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan, enjoyed spending time on the golf course with family and friends and attending his grandchildrené�a�a��s events and supporting them as they participated in sports and school activities. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 11:00 AM at St Michaelé�a�a��s Catholic Church in Coopersville with Fr. Len Sudlik celebrant. Burial will be in St. Michaelé�a�a��s Catholic Cemetery in Coopersville. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 5 to 7 pm at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville where the Rosary will be prayed Friday evening at 7 pm and also one hour prior to the funeral mass on Saturday at Church.
