Joan Marie Falk
August 9, 1938 – November 21, 2024
We wish to honor the life and legacy of Joan Marie (Saliers) Falk, beloved mother, wife, and grandma, who completed her journey in this life to begin her eternal one in Heaven where we eagerly await the day we are reunited with her. Joan spent her entire 86 years in Marne, MI, as the daughter of the late Wilford and Rita (Finkler) Saliers, and wife of the late Charles Falk. She was also preceded in death by her son Mark, daughter Denise; granddaughter Harmony, great-grandson Jedidiah; and brothers - Claude and Wilford “Bill”. She will be deeply missed by her surviving children – Robyn and Mike Replogle, Tim Falk, Laurie and Steve Close, Kristine and Mike Moore, Kelly Falk, and Julie Falk; fifteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; her sister, brothers, nieces and nephews.
Despite all of the challenges that life brings, our mother and grandma withstood them all. A stubborn and opinionated woman who loved God, her family, and absolutely adored her grand- and great-grandchildren, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. It is with great sorrow, as well as laughter, that we remember Joan as the “glue” who held our family together. Taken from us unexpectedly and far too soon, we will forever cherish the memories and keepsakes that she bestowed upon us. From little handwritten notes and cards to funny pictures and comic strip clippings, her unique sense of humor showed her love to us in many ways. And of course, her cooking and baking were the best treats ever! The holidays will never be the same without her as so much fun was spent throughout the years meeting at “mom’s” or “grandma’s” for dinner and games, or even just a regular weekday of hanging out with good food (burritos and fried mushrooms from Rinaldi’s), conversation, and television.
Joan had many hobbies. She loved cooking and baking for her family, reading her Bible and other books and magazines, or watching game shows, baseball and Bible preachers on the television. She enjoyed sitting outside and observing wildlife with her binoculars in tow, as well as feeding the many songbirds who visited her. Her favorite bird was the hummingbird, especially when they would sometimes zip around past her head while she sat and watched them. When she was able, Joan also enjoyed picnics at Grose Park where the family could gather for food and fun, as well as her weekly shopping and laundry trips. Throughout the years, Joan amassed a biblical wisdom and knowledge that rivals some preachers; it was a delight to engage in conversations with her regarding the Bible, prophecy, the rapture, and the end times. Joan’s life will forever be a legacy to her family, and the memories and love that we share will never be forgotten.
With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding. (Job 12:12)
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
My heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, Even thine alters, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God. (Psalm 84:2-3)
Fear ye not therefore, ye are more value than many sparrows. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 10:31-32)
