Janice Evonne Sessions, age 70 of Grand Rapids, went into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Janice was born on October 17, 1954, in Coopersville, Michigan to the late Mike and Vera Sessions. She was one of four children and the only daughter. Janice graduated from Coopersville High School in 1972 and went along to college at Northwestern Michigan College and Kendall School of Art and Design.
Growing up and being the only girl, Janice spent much of her time with her mother, Vera. They shared many of the same interests including reading, crafting, movies and weekend morning breakfast. They also shared their love for music and Janice had a beautiful voice that could be heard all over. She loved singing, especially at Christmas with her family. A Christmas tradition that Janice loved was decorating her tree with beautiful ornaments that were passed down to her from her parents and grandparents’ tree. Janice carried on this tradition by passing down those ornaments over the years to her nieces.
Janice, above all else, loved her family. She loved attending family gatherings and sharing stories. She loved her nieces as her own and was always talking about them to others. She loved it when the great nieces and nephews were around as well. Large family gatherings were her favorite, and a piece will be missing moving forward but never forgotten.
Janice is proceeded in death by her parents, Mike and Vera Sessions, some aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her brothers, Michael (Roseann) Sessions, Gregory (Julie) Sessions and Jeffrey Sessions; her nieces Maggie (Ted) Cherry, Emily (Jason) DeFouw, Katie (Jacek) Bundrya, Erin (Ryan) Smith, and Gini (Doug) Brown; Great-Nieces/Nephews, Julieann, Eleanor, Caroline, Garrett, Collin, Deacon, Annie, Clara, Cora, Matthew, Vincent, and Zoey; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In keeping with Janice’s wishes, a private family memorial will be held. Any stories of Jan are always welcome to be shared with the family to enjoy and commemorate. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association in Janice’s honor. Condolences for the family may be left on Janice’s guestbook at www.throopfh.com.
