James Meerman

Mr. James Peter Meerman, aged 89, of Conklin, was called home by his Lord, Saturday, April 30, 2016. Jim was a dairy farmer, a rural mail carrier and Chester Township Supervisor and Clerk for 22 years. He was past President of the Berlin Fair Board and a member of Conklin Reformed Church. He was also a strong supporter of the Coopersville Athletic programs. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Ethel Meerman, sons Jeffrey and David; son-in-law, Aaron Bouchard; great grandson, Dakota Noel; sister Dorothy VanHorn and nephew James P. Meerman. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Louise (Rhodes) Meerman; his children, Susan Balcom, Gary (Jane) Meerman, Christy (Randy) VanAelst, Melissa Bouchard, JoEllen Meerman; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother, Earl (Mary Ann) Meerman; cousin, Dale (Carol) Breen and special friend, Rich Brueker. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, 11am at the Church of the Saviour, 180 N. 68th Ave., Coopersville, MI., Rev. Sandra Nikkel officiating. Burial McNitt Cemetery. Friends and Relatives may meet the family Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at Church of the Saviour and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. The family would like to thank the staffs at Walker DeVita and Coopersville Fountain View. Memorial contributions may be made to the Conklin Reformed Church.
