Henry R. Piccard Jr., age 84, of Grand Rapids, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016. He was born in Alpine Twp. MI to the late Henry and Nellie (DeLiefde) Piccard. Henry graduated from Berlin High School in 1950, served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Dairy and Fruit Farmer in Alpine Twp. He was a member of the Alpine Twp. Fire Dept. for 31 years, served on the Berlin Fair Board for 13 years, was a member of the Marne American Legion Post 376, Moose Lodge in Sparta and Palmetto Mobile Home Club in Florida. Henry was preceded in death by his son Charles Piccard, sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Chuck Possett and his brothers Harold Piccard and Jack Piccard. Henry is survived by his wife of 59 years Harriet Piccard (Veldhuis) ; children, Cindy (Mike) Zaagman, Cathy (Mark) Meyer, Robert (Lindy) Piccard, Sandy (Dale) Billingsley, Donna (Bradley) Breternitz and Kim (Tim) Ellerbrock; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother, James (Josie) Piccard; sister Elaine (Wally) VanHouten; sisters-in-law Jean Piccard, Phyllis Piccard, Geraldine (Berwyn) Huizenga, brothers-in-law Harvey (Laura) Veldhuis, Ronald (Vicki) Veldhuis and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday 3:00 pm at Trinity Congregational Church, 2725 4 Mile Rd NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49544, with Rev Israel Young officiating. Burial in Washington Park Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville and Saturday at Church from 2 to 3 pm.
