Hal Heckel

Hal H. Heckel, age 70, of Coopersville, was called home to heaven Friday, December 5, 2014. Hal was born in Coopersville, MI. to Lloyd and Rita (Harper) Heckel who preceded him in death. Hal worked on the family farm growing up, worked as a brick mason and retired as an owner of VanderJagt Masonry Co. of Coopersville. Hal was a longtime member of Coopersville Reformed Church, and was on the Advisory Board of Fountain View Assisted Living. In his retirement he enjoyed helping others and wintering in Rio Hondo TX at Twin Palms retirement community where he was very active. Hal was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he loved to spend time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years Gay; 3 daughters, Hope (Chuck) Rasch, Amy (Scott) Bennink and Melissa (Ben) Madison; 7 grandchildren, Christopher Rasch, Shanna Rasch, Gary (Becki) Bennink, Gregory Bennink and fianc� Shelby, Joseph Madison, Alaina Madison and Elijah Madison; 4 great grandchildren, Kiara, Trinity, Aurora and Kennedy; brother Pastor Rex Heckel; sister Mary Ann (Tom) Yost and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Life Celebration Service will be held Tuesday 11 am at the Coopersville Reformed Church with Pastor Rex Heckel and Pastor Greg Stamm officiating. Burial will be in the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family, Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Coopersville Reformed Church Activity Center. Memorial donations may be made to Fountain View Assisted Living, 640 W. Randall St, Coopersville, MI. 49404.
