Gladys Kleyn

Gladys M. Kleyn, age 87, of Coopersville, passed away at home with family at her side, Tuesday, December 12, 2017.  She was born in Fremont to the late George and Alice (Fischer) Borgman and was a graduate of Fremont High School.  Gladys loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.  She worked tirelessly by her husband, John’s side on the family farm either milking or working in the fields. She enjoyed gardening and baking, her apple pies and cinnamon rolls were family favorites. Gladys was always putting others before herself and gave back to her community with 15 years of volunteering at Coopersville Cares and the quilt group at church. She is preceded in death by infant daughter Julie and twin infant sons.  Gladys is survived by her husband of 61 years John Kleyn; children, Susan (Phillip) Fritz, Pamela (Kevin) Keegstra, John Kleyn Jr., Mary (John) Willcome; grandchildren, Lauren Fritz, Derek (Jessica) Fritz, Sara (Vlad) Hernandez, Joshua Keegstra, Mikaleigh Kleyn, Kortney Kleyn, Jacob Willcome, Karla Willcome; a soon to arrive great grand-child;  sisters, Alma Bouwman and Marlene (Ken) Busman; sisters-in-law, Lucy Folkema, Francis (Bill) Coonrod, and Judy Tipton; many nieces and nephews.  Gladys was also preceded in death by her siblings and spouses, Harold (Dorothy) Borgman, Willetta (Paul) Boeskool , and brother-in-law Jerry Bowman.  Funeral services will be Saturday 11 am at the Coopersville Reformed Church with Rev. Arnold VanBeek officiating with burial in the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. cemetery.  Visitation is Friday December 15, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Throop Funeral Home Coopersville and Saturday one hour prior to the service at church.  Memorial donations may be made to Coopersville cares 180 N. 68th St Coopersville, MI 49404.  An online guest book may be signed at www.throopfh.com
