Gerard Scherff Jr., age 75, of Allendale, passed away into bigger and better things at his home Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in the Netherlands and came to the United States in 1952. He enjoyed cooking and grilling for family and friends, reading crime and spy novels and refinishing antique furniture. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerard and Maaike (VanHoven) Scherff, brother, Peter, and two sisters, Adrie Scherff and Marie (John) Calvetti. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother, John; sisters, Cornelia (Carl) Olson and Terri (Leon) Garvelink; many nieces and nephews; his “forever girlfriend” Nancy Lessien Draft; Nancy’s daughter, Aimee Draft Spigner; son-in-law, Andrew Spigner and dear granddaughters, Emily and Lauren. Visitation will be Friday Dec. 8th, 5 to 7 pm with a Celebration of Life Service led by Andrew Spigner at 7 pm at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville.
