Gerald Walt

Gerald Walt, age 97, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022. He was born in Coopersville, MI to the late Peter and Caroline (Hendrix) Walt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Nina, brother and sister-law Warren and Nellie Walt, sister-in-law Betty Hodson and brother-in-law Jack Palmatier. Gerald was a life time resident of Coopersville, MI., served in the Army Air Corp. in WW II, was active with the Boy Scouts Troop 4 in Coopersville for many years and retired from Leigh Products after 40 plus years.  He was a Tallmadge Twp. Trustee for 42 years and was also the Building Inspector for Tallmadge Twp. Gerald enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working on his farm and was a life member at Church of the Saviour in Coopersville. Gerald will be deeply missed by his son, Craig (Edith) Walt; 2 grandchildren, Greg (Wendy) Walt and Gwen (James) Eastwood; 4 great grandchildren, Justine Walt, David Walt, Colin Walt and Maggie Eastwood; brother, Marvin (Ruthann) Walt; sister, Mary Ann (Norman) Smoes, brother-in-law, Bill Hodson; sister-in-law, Ena Palmatier and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, February, 12, 2022 at Church of the Saviour, 180 68th Ave N, Coopersville, MI 49404. with Rev. David Kingma officiating. Burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Lamont. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, February 11, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St. Coopersville, MI 49404.
