Gerald W. Cappy, age 87, of Lamont, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 29, 2013 at his home. Gerald was born, raised and lived all his life in the Lamont area. He enjoyed raising horses in his younger years and attending the local fairs with his children and helping as they showed there horses at the local 4-H fairs. Gerald also enjoyed traveling to many horse shows with his children and grandchildren as they actively show horses at many equestrian quarter horse shows in the area. He was an avid bowler in his younger years and bowled a perfect 300 game. Gerald enjoyed garden tractor pulling and won many trophies with his cub cadet garden tractor at local garden tractor pulls in West Michigan. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed watching the races along with many cooking shows and doing home repairs and mowing his lawn. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Patricia; daughters, Judy (Jake) Borton and Barbara Cappy; son, Terry Cappy; grandchildren David Wambaugh, Shane Mosley, Zachery Borton and Maria Borton; sister-in-law Mary Jean Mengel and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville with burial in the Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home in Coopersville.
