Gay Lyn Heckel

Gay Lyn (Handlogten) Heckel, age 77, was called home to her Lord and Saviour Sunday, March 3, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Virginia (Laug) Handlogten and husband, Hal Heckel. Gay enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and drove school bus for Coopersville Public School. Gay and her husband Hal owned G and H Equipment in Coopersville, and she was a foster mother for Bethany Christian Services in Grand Rapids, MI. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Hope (Chuck) Rasch, Amy (Scott) Bennink, Melissa (Ben) Madison; grandchildren, Christopher Rasch, Shanna Rasch, Gary Bennink and Rachelle, Greg Bennink, Joseph Madison, Alaina Madison, Elijah Madison; 4 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Rex Heckel; sister-in-law, MaryAnn (Tom) Yost and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Coopersville Reformed Church, 423 W Randall St, Coopersville, MI 49404 with Rev. John Hines and Rev. Rex Heckel officiating. Burial will take place in Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, March 11, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St. Coopersville, MI 49404.
