Gary L. Koning, aged 65, of Lamont, was unexpectedly called home to his Lord Thursday, Nov 22, 2012. Gary was born Feb 21, 1947 in Grand Rapids MI to Kendall and Evelyn (Feenstra) Koning. He grew up in Lamont, graduated from Coopersville High School in the class of 1965, served in the U.S. Army during The Vietnam War and attended Calvary Church in Grand Rapids for the past several years. He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn and father-in-law Stanley Vruggink. Gary is survived by his wife of 37 yrs. Beth; son Chris Koning; daughter Carmen and Jason Kopen; father, Kendall é�a�A"Kené�a�� Koning, sister, Patricia (Leo) VanHooren; mother-in-law Bonnie Vruggink; sister-in-lawé�a�a��s Mavis (Tom) Finnie, Jane (Rollie) Mellberg; brother-in-law Dennis (Shari) Vruggink and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Monday 11 am at South Blendon Reformed Church 4817 Port Sheldon Rd. Hudsonville 49426 (corner of Port Sheldon and 48th Ave) Rev Mark Kleinheksel officiating. Burial in Maplewood Cemetery in Lamont. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville 49404, and one hour prior to the service on Monday at Church.
