Ethel "Sally" Mcgarey

Ethel “Sally” Miriam McGarey, aged 86, of Grand Rapids formerly of Coopersville, was called home to her Lord on Friday, March 8, 2019. She was born in Alston, MI to the late Henry and Helmi (Karppinen) Hendrickson. Sally was preceded in death by her husband Hamilton McGarey in 2013; daughters, Roberta McGarey and Susan Hammer; grandson, Brian Yost; brothers, Kenneth and Sheldon and sister, Janet. She graduated nursing school as an LPN. Sally loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling, take trips with the OK Club in Coopersville and was very active at the Coopersville United Methodist Church for many years. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Mark) Yost and Linda (Daryl) Klynstra; grandchildren, Matthew Klynstra, Joshua (Kathleen) Klynstra, Kim (Ken) Vanderkind, James (Brooke) Yost, Sarah Yost and Luis Chen, Steven (Ashley) Yost, Kevin (Heather) Yost, and Daniel Yost; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Glenn (Aletha) Hendrickson, James Hendrickson, Violet Butler, and Clyde Hendrickson. Relatives and friends may greet the family 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville, after which cremation will take place with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in Grand Rapids.
