Elaine Hecksel

Elaine Christina (Constantine) Hecksel, age 81, of Coopersville, was called home to her Lord on Friday, February 11th, 2022. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Elaine was born in Dearborn, MI to the late Paul and Helen (Merkins) Constantine. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Isabel Umlor, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Joyce Hecksel, brother-in-law, Joe Young and nephew, Sherman John Hecksel. Elaine taught school at Fruitport Community Schools, and she also was co-owner with her husband Gary of the Dog-N-Suds / Hecksel’s Family Restaurant in Norton Shores. Elaine loved to spend time with her family who always brought an abundance of joy to her life. She also took great pride tending to her wonderful vegetable garden. Elaine is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gary E. Hecksel; 6 children and 18 grandchildren, Christine (Herb) Zahm, Claire, Jessica, and Kathleen, Suzanne (Todd) Peterson, Nathan and Emily, Sara (Kelly) Sax, Alexandra, Jason and Erin, Laura (Josh) Rolfe, Anna, Molly and Cole, Eric (Kelly) Hecksel, Jacob, Evan, Tyler and Lindsey, Joy (Ryan) Umlor, Abigail, Ethan and Mia; brother, Myron (Karla) Constantine; brothers-in-law, Sherman (Ruth) Hecksel and Philip Hecksel; sister-in-law, Kathleen Young; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 14, 2022 at St Luke Lutheran Church, 17122 2nd St, Nunica, MI 49448, with Rev. Brennan Woell officiating. Visitation will be held the day prior to the service from 1-5 pm at the Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St, Coopersville, MI 49404 and also the day of the service from 10 – 11 am.
